Self-consciousness, first-person reference, and personal identity are linked fields of research. The book contains contributions from international researchers about topics like pre-reflective and reflexive consciousness, embodiment, temporality, self-location, and the practical implications of personal identity. Markus Herrmann holds a doctorate in philosophy and is a private lecturer in philosophy at the University of Heidelberg. He works in the Section for Ethics and Patient-oriented Care at the National Centre for Tumour Diseases in Heidelberg.
