FREDERICO 366 is a bright and cheerful, relaxing picture book with images that should raise a smile or two. It is intended to appeal to donkey and animal lovers of all ages. The book records the first 366 days of Frederico, an Andalusian Giant Donkey. On the day of his birth, 30 May 2023, Anahid Klotz, his owner was so pleased that she decided to take a photo of him every day of the year in all weather conditions. To take the photos she used a compact camera which was easy to carry in the weatherproof bag along with her stable clothes. The book contains 260 pages and almost all the images are in colour. The limited length of the book means that, with some exceptions, one image per day had to be selected from a choice of often funny and meaningful scenes. There are some typical motifs to be found in the book such as when Frederico walks up towards the camera. Unfavourable weather conditions and lightning meant that image quality and sharpness suffered sometimes. There was never a photo set, the pictures were taken straight from the events of the day as they happened. The focus of this work is not on the high standard of technical quality being met or professional image composition, but rather on the image content clearly showing Frederico growing up. What is humorously portrayed within this picture book includes: the miraculous power of nature to create new mammal life through a deeply heartfelt mother-child bond; and the harmony between the development of the donkey foal's small body and the growth in character and mental strength.
