Toxic effect of heavy metal on legume with reference to disease is poorly understood. These metals can arrest the growth of the plant that in turn limits the various metabolic activities of legumes including photosynthesis, synthesis of proteins, enzymes, and carbohydrates thus affect the legume yields severely. Therefore, this study focuses mainly on the two aspects (i) response of legumes under metal stressed environment and (ii) strategies to manage heavy metal, which may help in assessing the economic and ecological significance of metal.
