Beschreibung
The book emphasizes the role of IGAD in conflict resolution in the Horn of Africa before and after its revitalization in the Horn of Africa. In fact, the research stresses IGADs role in conflict resolution and mediation efforts in the South Sudan peace processes. Therefore, the central theme of this book is the examination and evaluation of IGADs mediation endeavours at every peace process in South Sudan. It focuses on South Sudanese peace processes which were held under the auspices of IGAD. It was found that IGADs peace building role and mediation efforts in South Sudan are surrounded by limitations such as scarcity of financial resources, lack of commitment among the member states, luck oh neutrality, inclusive peace as wrong entry strategy, as well as intervention of external powers in the peace processes. Therefore, the research concludes that IGADs commitment to bring about a speedy, comprehensive and durable peace in South Sudan has sadly remained as ever a rhetorical posturing.
