Manuscript lat. 12253 (15th c.) in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France contains Liber de sectis hereticorum et orthodoxe fidei dogmata of Baldwin, archbishop of Canterbury, hitherto thought to have been lost. The work consists of two parts. In the first, the Liber de sectis hereticorum, the author describes the heresies of the first three centuries A.D. together with the corresponding answer of the theologians. The second part, Orthodoxe fidei dogmata, lists the heresies of the 4th century again with the reply by the councils and popes. Two heterodox movements of the 12th century, the Catarists and the Nihilianists form the context of Baldwin’s work. No other work of this genre of the Latin Middle Ages is known to exist. • Die Handschrift lat. 12264 (15. Jh.) der Pariser Nationalbibliothek überliefert anonym den Liber de sectis hereticorum. Sie ist der einzige Textzeuge dieses Werkes, dessen Autor der ehe-malige Zisterzienser Balduin von Ford, Erzbischof von Canterbury, ist und das in der Forschung bisher als verloren gilt. Das Werk besteht aus zwei Teilen. Im ersten, dem Liber de sectis hereticorum, stellt der Verfasser die Häresien der ersten drei christlichen Jahrhunderte dar sowie die Antworten der Theologen. Der zweite Teil, die Orthodoxe fidei dogmata, führt die ab dem 4. Jahrhundert entstandenen Häresien auf mit den entsprechenden Antworten seitens der Konzilien und der Päpste. Zwei heterodoxe Strömungen des 12. Jahrhunderts, die Katharer und die Nihilianisten, bilden den Kontext, innerhalb dessen Balduins Werk seinen Ort hat. Im lateinischen Mittelalter ist bislang kein weiteres Werk derselben Gattung bekannt. • El manuscrito lat. 12264 de la Bibliothèque nationale de France contiene la única copia del Liber de sectis hereticorum et orthodoxe fidei dogmata de Balduino arzobispo de Canterbury. Esta obra largamente considerada perdida, está compuesta de dos partes. En la primera, Liber de sectis hereticorum, presenta el autor las herejías de los tres primeros siglos y la respuesta de los teólogos a dichas herejías, mientras que en la segunda parte, Orthodoxe fidei dogmata, expone las herejías a partir del siglo IV oponiéndoles las respuestas de los concilios y los papas. Dos herejías del siglo XII el cata-rismo y el nihilianismo conforman el contexto de Balduino en el que la obra adquiere actualidad. Cada una de sus partes ofrece material teológico e histórico para la refutación de dichas herejías, específicamente por medio de la explicación que acompaña a cada uno de los textos, ya sea herético, ya sea conciliar o papal. Este género literario no encuentra para-lelos en la Edad Media.
