Autorenportrait
received her Ph.D. in American literature from Rutgers University and her M.A. and B.A. in English from the University of Virginia. Dr. Allen has been employed at Long Island University since 1995 and has been a full professor in the English Department since 2009 and Director of the Africana Studies Program since 2005.
