Beschreibung
The Family Ficidae is placed in the Tonnoidea. Fig shells are closely related to some Tonnidae, but their shape distinguishes them without hesitation. Their shape is also where they take their vernacular and scientific name from: they look like figs or pears. Altogether this Iconography treats the 10 recognized species and another three subspecies of the Ficidae.
