Beschreibung
Cutting forces generated during turning operation were determined experimentally using three-axis dynamometer for different tool geometry and cutting parameters. Experiments have been conducted using the L16 orthogonal array on a PSG 124 lathe turning machine by manufacturing different tool holder geometry. Dry turning tests were carried out on hardened EN9 steel (AISI-1055 steel) with coated carbide cutting tools. The statistical regression analysis method is applied to investigate the effects of approach angle, feed per revolution, depth of cut (DOC) and nose radius on cutting forces. Results of this investigation shows that maximum cutting force condition is found at an approach angle = 450, feed = 0.3 mm, DOC = 1 mm and nose radius = 0.8 mm. At this maximum cutting force condition by considering the different forces acting on the spindle static and fatigue analysis has been carried out analytically and numerically.
