This work concentrates on MIMO wireless communications in mobile channels with a direct signal component along the line-of-sight (LOS). Novel antenna setups that ensure a high MIMO channel capacity independent upon the antenna orientation are analyzed theoretically and by measurements for the first time with respect to an enhanced channel capacity in mobile applications. Comprehensive measurement campaigns have been performed to evaluate numerous antenna setups. The measurement results are further used for the development of channel models based on the introduced novel "MPC-launching" technique, which enables the physically consistent modeling of time-variant MIMO channels in mobile environments.
