Plant Nutrition in Horticulture
The evolution of horticulture has been characterised by an increasing level of specialisation, technology and intensification of the production of horticultural products. This has yielded new challenges and the search for new scientific approaches and techniques of applied plant nutrition, which have led to the publication of a new edition of this handbook. Examples of this progress are the rearing of plants in recirculation systems, the development of new fertilisers, improvements in the area of nutrient analysis such as the CAT method, and growth-orientated fertilising strategies, with the introduction of specific, targeted methods of fertilising in agriculture. There is also an increasing interest in the influence of fertilisation and irrigation on the quality of horticultural products.
