Der Theologe Melanchthon

Theology is presumably the only field of research in which Melanchthon was completely overshadowed by Martin Luther. Melanchthon is regarded correctly as the »first Protestant systematic theologian«. The articles in this volume however also attempt to depart to a large extent from the widespread duographical perspective of »Melanchthon and Luther.« In doing so, they heighten the perception of the innovativeness of the Wittenberg humanist and reformer who set his own enduring course in theology and in the natural sciences as well as in church and imperial policies and in confessionalization.
