- Un outil de base pour les organisations sportives et les praticiens du droit du sport ainsi que pour les pénalistes
- Une portée internationale, la Convention liant actuellement une trentaine d’Etats
The manipulation of sport competitions (also called “match-fixing”) is not a new phenomenon; indeed, evidence of such cheating can be traced back to the 3rd century AD. Seeing the unprecedented growth of this phenomenon, lawmakers and sport organizations have recently started a coordinated and global fight against this menace, which is grounded, at a legal level, in the only international convention aiming at combatting competition manipulation (the “Macolin Convention”), entered into force in 2019.
The present contribution – unique in its kind – analyzes in a systematic, comprehensive and critical way, the new legal parameters which apply to match-fixing in a global context. It scrutinizes and explains all its legally relevant aspects, in the light of case-law and doctrine. This contribution is a “must have” handbook for any lawmaker or lawyer dealing with the thorny issue of match-fixing.
