Plant breeding is the art and science of changing the traits of plants in order to produce desired characteristics which can be accomplished through many different effective techniques like Heterosis, Combining ability analysis and Stability analysis.This book gives an insight into improvement of Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench) which is also known as is Ladys finger in UK, Gumbo in the USA, Guino-Gombo in Spanish, Guibeiro in Portuguese and Bhindi in India. It is an economically important vegetable crop grown in tropical and sub-tropical parts of the world especially India, Brazil, West Africa and many other countries. Completed Ph.D. (Horticulture) from Navsari Agricultural University,India. He is University Gold medalist and also recipient of DST-INSPIRE fellowship. He has worked on agronomical and breeding related aspects of vegetable crops & has several publications as papers and book chapter. Presently working as Scientist at ICAR-CTCRI,Kerala,India.
