Various researchers draw from the Dual-Aspect Theory, the Konstanz Method of Dilemma Discussion, and the Moral Judgment Test, developed by German psychologist Georg Lind to advance democratic competencies. Grounded in Lawrence Kohlberg´s theory of moral judgment, contributors report research at various levels of social engagement to enforce democratic skills.

Dawn E. Schrader is Associate Professor of Communication and Educational Psychology at Cornell University. She researches intersectionality of morality, moral action and metacognitive reflection.
Boris Zizek is Assistant Professor of Education at the University of Mainz (Germany). He is interested in identity and socialization in adolescence.
