'Objection to Double Demands. An Examination of the Double Protection in Patent Law': The harmonization efforts concerning the European patent system resulted in the proposal in Germany to allow the simultaneous protection by national patents and European patent titles, which is limited by the possibility to raise the objection to double demands. The dissertation examines this simultaneous protection as well as the possibility to object double proceedings and presents the conclusion that more and the better arguments plead for the introduction of the limited double protection.

Bernadette Makoski studierte Rechtswissenschaft in Düsseldorf und Cergy-Pontoise. Sie wurde von der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes gefördert. In Düsseldorf war sie u.a. am Lehrstuhl für Staats- und Verwaltungsrecht und am Lehrstuhl für Bürgerliches Recht und Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz tätig. Dort erwarb sie auch ihren LL.M., wurde promoviert und ist nun Lehrbeauftragte. Während des Rechtsreferendariats absolvierte sie u.a. eine Station bei der Europäischen Kommission. Sie ist Richterin am Landgericht in Düsseldorf, war bereits für das Bundesministerium der Justiz und für Verbraucherschutz und ist für den Gerichtshof der Europäischen Union tätig.
