Sophie Blackall stammt aus Australien und hat bereits über 30 Bilderbücher illustriert. Sie ist eine der wenigen Künstlerinnen überhaupt, die zwei Mal mit der renommierten Caldecott Medal ausgezeichnet wurden. Zuletzt 2019 für »Hallo, Leuchtturm!«. Für dieses Buch unternahm sie aufwendige Recherchen und besichtigte mehrere Leuchttürme. Sophie Blackall lebt mit ihrer Familie in Brooklyn, New York.
