His interests in academic urology now primarily include wellbeing and quality of life in men’s health and cancer, actingas lead co-ordinator for several studies, including the multi- institutional MIND-P prospective cohort study. In addition to this he has focussed on surgical education, curriculum development and the role of non-technical skills in operating theatres. These have resulted in over 50 peer reviewed journal publications to date in high impact journals, along with numerous national and international meeting presentations which have included several best poster prizes. Additionally, he is co-editor of the ‘Men’s Health and Wellbeing’ book and has authored seven book chapters in clinical, education, men’s health, and anatomical subjects. Oliver is also a keen educator regularly teaching medical students, as a clinical skills tutor and lecturer on the Surgical Sciences intercalated BSc programme at King’s College London.
Professor Ahmed completed his specialist urology training in London and undertook a clinical fellowship training at University College London Hospital (UCLH) in andrology, men’s reconstructive surgery, and infertility management. He holds a PhD degree in Surgical Education from Imperial College London and his research interests include surgical education (curriculum and assessment tools development and validation), men’s health & survivorship, sperm retrieval techniques and management of infertility in non-obstructive azoospermia. He has received several awards, and both clinical and educational grants, from organisations, including the European Association of Urology, the British Association of Urological Surgeons, the Royal College of Surgeons, the NationalInstitute for Health Research, the Coptcoat Charity, and Pelican Group.
Professor Muneer has published extensively in peer reviewed journals and has also edited several textbooks including Viva Practice for the FRCS(Urol) (1st and 2nd editions), Textbook of Penile Cancer (1st and 2nd editions), Prosthetic Surgery in Urology and Atlas of Male Genitourethral Surgery. A key opinion leader in the fieldof male genital cancer, he has also developed novel surgical techniques and published extensively in the field of Penile Cancer and leads one of the largest international Penile Cancer Networks and is the Chief Investigator for the National Institute of Health Research VELRAD trial
